I'm glad to have been invited here. I've been a fan of Van since my old friend pulled me aside and said "you've got to listen to this, I think you'd like it".
"Who is it?" I asked, and when she said "Van Hunt" I shrugged and dismissed her opinion because I was ignorant and had only heard his name lumped into a bunch of other Neo-Soul artists.
I listened though, over and over. I took the CD home and listened obsessively, then I looked for what else there was. Luckily, On the Jungle Floor had just been released. I bought that and devoured it.
I have been an admirer of Van's songwriting, vocals and straight up musicianship ever since. He's getting better and stranger, which is exactly what I like from artists I follow.
